Papulopustual rosacea is characterized by persistent central facial redness with temporary papules and pustules. This subtype of rosacea is often called acne rosacea. The symptoms resemble acne vulagris except there are no blackheads or whiteheads present. Many times the skin appears red, sore and swollen or congested. Papulopustular rosacea is often reported with erythematotelangiectatic rosacea and will include the presence of tiny red veins.
Treatments consistent of topical and oral medications as well as some laser light or IPL therapy. Instigators or triggers for the skin condition are also established and avoided to aid in faster remissions. Treatments are often more effective when done in combination, however the fundamental cause remains unknown. Treatments work to control the symptoms and inhibit the disease from progressing. |
